Planning for this time on the front end will yield better results and higher productivity. Getting started can be challenging and consistency is crucial.

Ethical Leadership in the Financial Services Industry - Setting the Bar
February 10
Emotionally intelligent leadership is key in maintaining organizational health and in building stellar teams in the workplace. The financial services industry and your bank will prosper, or struggle based on OUR choices as leaders. Are we leading for the right reasons? Have we examined our own personal core values as a person of influence in the organization? What characteristics make up the ideal banking leader? This session will focus on looking at our competitive landscape and what it takes to be a successful and rise as an ethical leader in the financial services industry.

Creating a Collaborative Work Environment I LOVE My Job - Engagement and Beyond
February 23
Retaining and engaging in a new world of work – does this sound like something you can relate to?  The Great Resignation has disrupted employers and in turn negatively impacted organizational engagement and culture.  The employee “experience” is just as important today as our “customer” experience.  What if we saw everything we did through the lens of our employees?  Would that make or break our current practices related to engaging and retaining? In this session we will peel back the layers and ask the right questions about engagement and retention in our current environment above and beyond the topic of compensation. Believe it or not, money isn’t always the number one reason people leave their current employer.

New Supervisor Essentials
February 27
Do you trust yourself to lead with confidence or do you often second guess your ability to be a supervisor? It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by all the responsibilities and emotions that come with the role. In this workshop, you will explore the fine art of self-assessment to evaluate your current skill level and make a plan to meet all of your job challenges. You will learn to recognize ego, drop judgment, and let go of assumptions that often impede supervisory success. Break-out “reflection groups” are used to share new ideas, best practices, and offer feedback.

Hiring for the Right Fit and Beyond
March 7
What’s our end game? Hire right, coach great, and build strong teams. This program will step you through the best practices of hiring for the right fit. Being intentional about training managers and supervisors in the hiring process is key to creating stellar teams. Raise the bar when it comes to best practices for hiring for the right fit. Aimed at management and anyone that is involved in the hiring process, the interview and selection of new hires. If you new to leading and managing and have not been trained in the hiring process, this session is for you.

Talent Management - Having the Right People in the Right Seats. Coaching Up or Coaching to Exit?
March 16
Answer this question: As a supervisor or manager…have I done everything possible to set this person up for success in their role? People excel when they are doing things where they can perform at their natural best. Have we created the right environment to set them up for success? How many of us have inherited teams that we are now expected to lead and make sure everyone is performing? Managing your “bus” can be rewarding and challenging all at the same time but working at right fit is the key to optimal team performance.

How to Effectively Manage Your Virtual Team
April 14
Leaders today are having to adapt to the new normal way of working. It is important for managers to develop an effective structure around their ability to virtually manage their direct reports. If leaders cannot physically see what people are doing, they wonder whether someone is actually working. In this webinar managers will acquire skills to: set clear expectations on what it means to work virtually; build a structure to consistently  communicate with team members; be visible; promote opportunities to involve others; identify ways to maintain the culture; and incorporate “fun” where you can.

Organizational Culture: A Key to a High Performing Bank
April 19
Culture has become a top priority for leaders as banks navigate change and look for ways to improve business results and long-term effectiveness. Culture impacts everything from attracting and retaining talent to problem solving to team collaboration to customer service to the achievement of business strategies. Unfortunately, culture is not readily understood by the leaders charged to advance the desired culture by the bank. They are often simply asked to change it without the benefit of understanding what the cultural gaps may be and/or what levers for change on which to focus. We will provide insights into what really drives culture, how it can be assessed, where leaders can focus attention to have the greatest impact, and touch upon the difference between culture and employee engagement. Cultural change is possible!

Every Employee is Responsible for Customer Growth
April 27
We know that customer service and sales representatives are responsible for building relationships with customers. But, let’s not stop there. When an entire organization benefits from relationship development, we need to find effective ways to engage the entire organization in relationship development. Everyone plays an important role in that process, so take the time to discover and identify how each job position at your bank will contribute to successful relationship development. This session examines how banks can direct their culture and business practices directly at customers and their long-term loyalty. It’s no longer acceptable to only take ownership of your daily tasks. Every employee must take ownership in the customers’ relationship tenure and satisfaction.

Reward and Recognition Strategies
May 5
Recognition and appreciation is a fundamental need of humans. Most employees respond to recognition of their good work because it reinforces that they are valuable and the work that they do is valued. Banks today need to get creative in recognizing and rewarding their employees. Fewer and fewer employees are making a career at one employer so leaders need to find ways to reward and recognize contributions, hard work and productivity. Most people, including leaders acknowledge not receiving or providing much positive feedback if any at all.  It’s hard to retain good people if we don’t recognize the value in which others bring to the organization. In this seminar participants will: determine “what” to recognize and reward; identify the benefits of employee recognition; reward people with a personalized approach; and make recognition a constant application.

IBA Legislative Briefing and Reception
January 31
When the legislative session begins this January, members of the 2023 Indiana General Assembly will address numerous issues affecting Indiana’s banking community. In anticipation, the Indiana Bankers Association is hosting a legislative reception in honor of the Indiana General Assembly, statewide elected officials, their staff and spouses. The evening will include a legislative briefing by IBA Government Relations team, an informative and always entertaining discussion on Indiana politics with WFYI's Indiana Week in Review crew, and more. This is a prime opportunity for bankers to get to know legislators, discuss important banking issues and thank those legislators who have helped us with critical issues in the past.

FLD Day at the Statehouse
March 7
The FLD Day at the Statehouse is dedicated to giving a voice to emerging bank leaders in the political process. It is a prime opportunity to get to know legislators and learn firsthand about the IBA's grassroots advocacy efforts. Though IBA is active politically through lobbying and PAC support, IBA’s most effective advocacy takes place at the grassroots level, when bankers meet face-to-face with lawmakers to express industry views. Members of the Indiana General Assembly welcome the opportunity to hear directly from their banking constituents, and they appreciate the effort you make to visit them during the legislative session. FLD Day at the Statehouse is your opportunity to become politically engaged, and unlock your potential as an industry advocate. The tentative agenda will include informative insights from the IBA Government Relations team, meetings with House and Senate banking committee leaders, time dedicated for visits with your own state lawmakers, and a look inside the Indiana's Statehouse.

IBA Annual Washington Trip
September 25-27
Mark your calendars and join with your banking peers as we travel to Washington, D.C., for this important IBA grassroots event. This is your opportunity to talk to legislators and industry regulators. Your participation will help us make a significant grassroots impact in our nation's capital. Hotel accommodations will be at The Willard InterContinental Hotel. More information is forthcoming.
